NYCC 2014!
NYCC has come and gone. I cannot believe it is over already! I waited anxiously for a year, and put in tons of preparation, but, in a flash, it's Monday. A very stupid and sad Monday. Now, the whole cycle begins again. I had an amazing time. I think this year topped NYCC 2013. My cosplay game was a lot stronger this year. I was satisied with every costume, and all my looks this year. I'm bias, but I think Chinh, Christine and I looked awesome in all our cosplays this year.
Day 1: Daenerys
Friday was my day to be Daenerys. I got a lot of compliments saying that I looked authentic, which was really nice to hear. My hair was freshly done, and actually cooperated that day. I looked pretty on point with my extensions in. It was nice to not have to wear a wig that day. The costume was slightly annoying to wear only because of the front area, and not wanting my boobs to come out. I did have pasties on though. Everyone kept stepping on my goddamn dress too!!! I don't how girls cosplay anything involving long dresses and trains. I wanted to set people on fire.
We basically explored the floor, and spied on Jessica Nigri on the way. Eventually, we made it to the the booth with Riddle, Monika Lee, Stella Chuu and Nadya Sonika. Monika Lee was bitchy. She told us to photoshop her in. What was she was doing that was so important? I don't know. I never liked her anyway, and really did not care about taking a picture with her. However, Riddle and Stella were super sweet. Riddle complimented us on our costumes, and liked my Daenerys. It was really awesome coming from her. She even included us on her instagram uploads! I love her!
We also took pictures with Nadya Sonika, who was at the booth as well. I wasn't familiar with her cosplays, but we looked through her pictures, and she has some awesome costumes. She was Cammy for that day, which made number 1 on MTV's 14 Eye-Poppingly Beautiful Cosplay from NYCC. When we asked for her picture she was nice, and put all her gear on just for the photo. I'm really glad we got to meet these girls. Later on, we got to meet up with Eddy, and take some photos! Hoping to see more pics soon. :) We ended the day with the Birdman panel. We got to see 10 minutes of the movie, and actually see Michael Keaton and Edward Norton talk about the film. It was pretty interesting.
Day 2: Poison Ivy
Saturday was our group costume day. I must say after all the stress of putting this damn Poison Ivy costume together relatively last minute, I looked pretty damn good! Haha! My costume didn't fall apart, and I got really nice compliments. I think it was worth it painting on the gold glitter, and gluing on the rhinestones onto the corset. The corset wasn't that bad to wear as well, however sitting was rather difficult and my movement was restricted. The annoying part was the wrapping of the leaves around my arm and leg. T_T Frustrating to say the least, but I made it through the day. Trial and error I suppose. At least I know for next time.
This is by far my favorite group costume with Chinh and Christine. We have tonsssss of pics of this too. I swear to God, all we Saturday was take photos haha. We first meet up with Jaycee who took a shot of our Sunday cosplay last year. We did a mini shoot by the Batman exhibit, and outside later on in the day. Then, we met up with Felipe, and he got some great shots of us from what I've seen already. I love that he was so memorized by it all, and so excited to be there. He wants to go every year now. lmao! I love him. Felipe even took our picture when we finally got to Jessica Nigri. It's a cute photo considering she was Harley that day.
One of the best moments of Friday was the wedding proposal. A Batman cosplayer, that we actually got a shot with earlier in the day, got a bunch of DC cosplayers to meet in front of the Batman exhibit for what his girlfriend thought was just a huge group picture. Finally after all the photos, he got to propose to his Harley. It was the cutest and nerdiest proposal ever. I loved it! That's how I want my proposal to go. I mean, how many people can say they got proposed to by Batman at NYCC? Afterwards, we went outside and took more pictures with tons of DC cosplayers. It was so fun!
Overall, NYCC was a HUGE success, and I had so much fun despite the lack of sleep. I hope we get tickets next year because I am already planning new cosplays... lmao. Is that bad that I was already thinking about costumes for NYCC 2015 before this year's con even started? Maybe I can go all four days next year, and re-do the Joker or Wonder Woman on Thursday. The only thing I am sad about is I forgot that Lex from MadeYewLook on Youtube was at the NYX booth during NYCC this year. She's is an amazing body painter, and her tutorials are some of my favorite. We saw the booth, but never made our way over there. :(
Since we're on the topic of new cosplays, so far I want to do the New 52 Harley Quinn. I haven't seen it much at NYCC... which I don't know if it's because she is relatively new or that a lot people seem to not like the New 52 version of her. They were complaining her costume was "too slutty" now. I'm over here, like "I think she's looks hot." lmao. My friend said there was no such thing as too slutty. I agree. Hahaha.
I like Harley Quinn from what I read in the New 52 Suicide Squad. I like that she's her own person, and away from the Joker. She actually sticks up for herself against the Joker in the Suicide Squad storyline that coincides with the Death in the Family story arc. He was mad at her for sleeping with Deadshot, but she wasn't having any of his shit lol. I guess, people really don't like change, and just hate on the New 52 direction DC is going in. C'mon though, Harley Quinn wasn't going anywhere. There is only so much you can do with her character before she becomes stagnant. I always thought of her as just Joker's sidekick. I didn't really care about her in the animated series. I found a whole new respect for her in the comics. Like I said before, I actually love that she is on her own in Injustice and Suicide Squad. I've really enjoyed her character since reading these comics.
I am hoping I can cosplay her, and get it right. I need to get all the pieces to the costume, and somehow make a hammer. I need the hammer, it's so much more fun at con if you have one. I just need to figure out if I have to airbrush or paint myself white since Harley's origin is different in the new story arcs. She basically suffers that same fate as the Joker did (all due to him really), and has white skin.
As for the other cosplays, I have no idea. I would like to stay blonde with no wigs for these cosplays to be honest. My options right now are:
Pinup Captain America
Sub-Zero
Thor
DC Bombshell Supergirl
Rogue (which needs a wig T_T)
I like the idea of the pinup Captain America for Sunday. It seems relatively easy to do. I wonder if I can make my own retro shield. I've never built anything in my life though. T_T
BlackMilk put out another collection today. This company is made of everything that is pure evil in this world. They have a traditional Harley Quinn catsuit, and a Riddler dress. Guess who bought both including Batman leggings? Yeah. T_T But honestly, how cute would a Riddler cosplay be? The Harley Quinn catsuit is the only other version of Harley that I'd probably be interested in doing sans the cowl. Thank god she's blonde lol. Good thing i have money saved up for the wedding. I'm reckless I know.
I fucking love BlackMilk at the same time though because they had this Flappy Shark game up while their site was down for an hour. I have the window still open so I can play it. My highest score is 6. T_T For the Pulp Horror collection, they had a smashing pumpkins game.
I want the mummy dress now though... fuck. Help me please...
PS: Ah shit... I just got a high score of 10. I need to go to bed. T_T

After all the photo maddness, we watched the The Walking Dead panel while I died sitting in that godforsaken corset. We couldn't see the sneak peek because we weren't in the main room for it. Assholes. I still have mixed feeling about the TWD. I'm mad at the show because I didn't like season 4. I watched the premiere today. I must admit, Carol was pretty badass in this episode. I hope she doesn't die. I am praying that this season is more exciting than the last. I love bat shit crazy Rick, so I'm hoping that makes up for last season. I was telling a friend that I'm done if he goes back to gardening and crying. I also can't wait to hear him yell "CORAL". I loved Andrew Lincoln amd Norman Reedus at the panel nevertheless. Reedus and his fucking selfies. Once that was done, we ate and I retired Poison Ivy the rest of the night to watch the Eastern Championships of Cosplay. The contestants were amazing. It's fun seeing these people cosplay, but sad because I could never make a costume like that haha.
Day 3: Chucky
Sunday was basically a chill day. We shopped and did a shoot with our costumes. Chucky got a good reception. I thought no one would care or take a picture of me because it was a weird costume. My friend posted a full body shot of the costume on his Facebook, and he got more likes on my photo then I did... wtf. Hahaha. At least some people appreciate that cosplay. I was impressed with my recreation of Jessica Harlow's makeup tutorial. I think my makeup skills are getting better. The costume would of been boring if I didn't makeup my face like that. Makeup makes such a huge difference when cosplaying. I'm surprised I didn't buy anything. I read all my comics digitally, so I thought it was silly to buy a physical copy of anything. I mean, eventually I might want to collect some graphic novels when I have my own home/space to do so.
