Oogie Boogie Bash
I must say, I think I enjoyed the Oogie Boogie Bash more than Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. We began our day by exploring the park, and looking for the infamous Instagram walls. This was my very first time in Disney California Adventure, so I was pretty excited. On Sundays, you are allowed to enter DCA 4 hours before the party starts. We took some pictures in front of the famous Mickey Ferris wheel before wandering off in search of the Buzz wall. I was devastated when I realized both the Buzz AND Up walls were GONE. Wtf. They were either painted over or covered by the new Captain Marvel Meet and Greet. Eww... I was all ready in my cute Buzz Lightyear Disneybound, and there was no wall in sight. Blah.
After catching a glimpse of Disneyland’s fireworks next door, we embarked on some Trick or Treat trails. My main goal was to find the Oogie Boogie trail to see the man himself, and I was super happy when I did. The treat trail with the Mad Hatter was fun as well. Unfortunately, we totally missed the Maleficent and Evil Queen trails, even though we were in the vicinity. I was so focused on not missing Villains Grove before the park closed at 11pm. They transformed the Redwood Trails into a haunting, yet beautiful walk through the forest full of lights, projections, sounds and special effects. My favorite part of the trail was the simulated lightning storm. It was the perfect ending to the night!

My next mission was to find the light up Oogie Boogie sipper. I was informed by cast members that they put out Oogie Boogie related merchandise at 6pm. We waited around Los Feliz Five & Dime until I could get my hands on that sipper. Cast members first put out spirit jerseys and other merchandise for the bash that I didn’t care for. People were legit acting like animals for a basic $65 long sleeve shirt. Here, I was worried that the sipper would sell out, but these people were going crazy over shirts. Miguel made friends with one of the cast members and sympathized with her as someone who works retail himself. lmao. She said they couldn’t put out the sippers until the chaos died down because they needed space. Miguel and I waited patiently away from the chaos until the cast member came around and literally guided us over to the sippers, handing us two to take to check out. After we left the store, we saw a popcorn cart that had it... the craziness could have been averted...
We decided to eat before we embarked on our adventure. I tried a corn dog at Corn Dog Castle, and like I suspected, Miguel opted for Angry Dogs over in Pixar Pier. We didn’t really get on any of the rides before sunset. We basically only went on the Pixar Pal-A-Round, which Miguel tried to get me on the swinging gondolas. Not today Satan. We contemplated Incredicoaster, but I was being a bitchass. It looks scary, but in reality, it’s not. I should have taken the opportunity to go on it at night. Regrets. We did run back to Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums for the infamous chocolate chip cookie. It was delicious, and probably full of diabetes.
Luckily, we found a clear open spot for the Frightfully Fun Parade. I was determined this trip to watch every parade, and catch the Headless Horseman as he rode by. It turns out we were sitting at beginning of the parade route, and so, the Headless Horseman lingered for a few minutes before he slowly trotted off down the parade path. There’s something so mysterious, yet magical about him that gave me goosebumps that night. I actually liked this parade better than the Boo-To-You parade at MNSSHP. I loved seeing the Mayor of Halloweentown, and Jack with Sally. Also, this Halloween parade had my favorite villain Hades. After the parade we waited for Villainous! I had never seen DCA’s World of Color before, and so, I didn’t know what to expect, but OMG! I was absolutely blown away! The show is hosted by none other than, Mr. Oogie Boogie himself and tells a tale of a little girl trying to decide what she wants to be for Halloween. Of course, Oogie Boogie suggests she go as one of Disney’s many iconic villains. I think my favorite part of the show was with Hades and the Titans. LOL:
“Brothers! Titans! And now that I set you free, what is the first thing you are going to do?!”
“Go to Disneyland!”
Honestly, it can be hard trying to accomplish everything you want to do at Disney’s Halloween parties, but I’m pretty satisfied with what we were able to conquer. I do wish I could have gotten photos with some of the Fab 6 in their cute Halloween costumes. I tried to take a photo with Woody and Bo Peep at Pixar Pier, but they switched characters with Inside Out while we were in line. Also, the lines for Kingdom Hearts Donald and Goofy were super long so... that was rough to walk passed lol.
I loved the Halloween ambiance that DCA has after dark, especially in Cars Land. I just loved the vibe of the park at night in general. I honestly could stare at the Mickey Ferris wheel all night if you let me. Overall, would I travel all the way back to Cali to the Oogie Boogie Bash again? Of course.
I love it! So cute!
