Hollywood Studios... Toy Story Land!

Our morning started off with a bang with our first fastpass: Aerosmith’s Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster. After all these years, it’s still my favorite roller coaster in Disney. It was Miguel's first time on this ride, so it was cool to see his reaction from going 0 to 60 mph into a loop. My main objective was to see Toy Story Land. It was beyond packed once we found it. It was so cute though with Christmas decorations and all! I loved all the details they put into keeping with the theme, and the toy soldiers marching along through the crowds. The giant Woody and Buzz Lightyear are my favorite. Sadly, only one of our fastpasses could go towards Toy Story Land, and so we choose to wait on the long line for Toy Story Mania first. This was my first time on this ride, and it was so much fun! I absolutely love this ride! I actually prefer this over Buzz Lightyear’s in Magic Kingdom. It’s well worth the long wait, and the queue keeps you pretty occupied since everywhere you look you see Andy’s toys and board games. It’s pretty nostalgic. My favorite is the giant talking Mr. Potato Head.

After Toy Story Mania, we had a fastpass for the Alien Swirling Saucers. The ride concept is similar to Alice’s Tea Cups with a cute alien spin to it (no pun intended). While it’s fun, I wouldn’t say it’s worth a long wait. As we made our way out of Toy Story Land for Star Tours, we found Buzz. He was so cute with his Santa hat on! I’m glad we saw him when we did because right after we got on line it started to get long. We saw Woody and Jessie as well, but their line was longer. I regret not getting a photo with Woody and his cute Christmas sweater, but I really wish they did photos without no neck Jessie. I just want Buzz and Woody together.

We set out to find the cute Christmas Alien popcorn buckets, which were readily available and not hard to find. By luck, we happened upon the Storm Trooper procession which was cool to watch. I can’t wait for Star Wars Land to open this year! Seeing Star Wars being incorporated more and more in the park gets me so excited. For dinner, we had reservations at 50’s Prime Time Cafe. I had no idea prior to this that the restaurant had “rules.” In turn, we got yelled at by the waitress and I was forever terrified of looking at my phone for the duration of the time lol. She was a bit sassy, and even turned off Miguel’s Pokémon Go. The restaurant decor was like a 1950’s family kitchen, and food reminded me of homecooked meals at home. I would definitely eat there again, and I’ll be prepared next time around.

We had to bite the bullet, and wait 90 minutes for Slinky Dog. By this time is was dark out, and the roller coaster had a cool effect at night. I hate the wait time, but the ride is fun. After Slinky Dog, we had to run back to Tower of Terror before the park officially closed and they ended the line. I still refuse to go on that ride, so Miguel had to go alone. The wait time was pretty short for him though because of closing time. It was snowing on Sunset Boulevard when we got there, and the light show for Tower of Terror was visible. We had already saw fake snow on Main Street at Magic Kingdom, so it was fun to see it at Hollywood Studios too. It’s a better experience than having to deal with the real thing at home... just don’t get it in your mouth lol.

Sadly, I forgot about the the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. The shop was closed when I remembered, and I happened to be sitting right by it when I was waiting for Miguel. I sat peacefully watching the light show while Sunset Blvd emptied out. Sadly, Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! was underwhelming. It was basically just projections on the Chinese Theater with little to no fireworks. I don’t know if this is due to the construction at the park, but had I known, I wouldn’t have stayed for the show.

Overall, it was a good day at Hollywood Studios and probably the longest I’ve spent there. It was nice to see the park at night for once. Next, Universal Studios...
