Katsucon 2016
So, finally I've gotten to experience the infamous con that everyone raves about. Did I like? It was okay. It didn't impress me or live up to the hype in my opinion. Although, I think had I gone a year ago, I would have felt differently. It's sad, I don't get PCD (Post Con Depression) anymore. The magic of cons are gone for me. I noticed this time I had more of a "fuck it" attitude. I was in my costumes for a bit, shot with the people I cared to shoot with and then got out of my costume into civilian clothes. I was more relaxed though.
This was Miguel and I's first con together as a couple. I think most people get by now that we are a thing. We actually spent a lot more time together than I had originally thought. It was surprising to hear so many people salty about us being together. It's unnecessary drama like this in the cosplay community is what makes me loathe cosplay right now. I fucking hate that. We're fucking adults. We're not a fling... this is an actual relationship with someone I actually fell in love with. I'm not an object. I'm a person. It's sad to see half the drama coming from his "friends." I guess, this explains why we were together most of the con. I hate when people set that sort of tone for the relationship. I find it hard to like people when they put such a bad taste in my mouth. I don't forgive or forget. I really admire Miguel for being a better person than me and looking past it, but my past relationships have made me cold and less tolerable to people's bullshit.
Ignoring all the drama, I was actually 100% happy with both my cosplays. They turned out better than I could have ever expected. Ironically, they were both costumes I bought from China. I lucked out big time. Although the Jade costume didn't initially fit, Chinh's mom was able to fit it to my body so that it looked perfect on. Also, I have to thank Miguel for making my staff for me. I'm in love with the shots he took of me as Jade. I'm sad though because pictures do not do my Babydoll costume justice. You can't quite see all the bling coming from my costume and $100 tights full of rhinestones.
Ultimately would I go to Katsucon again, yes. Despite all the people I can't stomach in the cosplay community, I do love seeing and hanging out with Miguel and my Cosbaetches family. My only wish is for the Bitches to have a room in the Gaylord. If we had a room, it would be more convenient. I could rest or take a nap whenever I wanted to. I think I could enjoy going out to the club and night activities more because the major cons of Katsu were that I barely ate or slept. I think that contributed to my con crud. First time I've EVER gotten con crud! I wasn't even near the gazebo! Wtf, immune system?! I thought you were stronger than that! Also, when I say Bitches... I mean all three of us. It was weird without Christine. She asked why? But I don't know how to explain it. It's like this missing void. The Bitches are just not complete. While my experience was overall good, NYCC is still my favorite.
