Tulip Fields Forever
Since I can’t jet out to the Netherlands just yet to run through Dutch tulip fields, Central Jersey will have to do. I am quite partial to Holland Ridge Farms. I visited last October to soak up the crisp autumn air amongst their sunflowers. I fell in love instantly with the farm’s scenery and of course, their sunflowers. They were the picturesque kind worthy of IG, not those fields with decrepit sunflowers overrun with more greenage. Like Lavender By the Bay, this farm is my haven for sunflowers and tulips. It actually makes me hate Jersey a little less.

The family that owns the farm are, in fact, of Dutch descent and have dreamt of opening tulip fields similar to those famous in their homeland. For a $10 fee, you can take as many photos in the tulip fields as your little heart desires. The farm is open every day for as long as the tulips stay in bloom. I’m quite happy I got to enjoy the sea of colorful tulips this year despite the heavy rainfall from the prior day. I haven’t seen a tulip festival quite like this in the NY/NJ area, and so I’ve really lucked out. Now, if only I could find a field full of Daffodils... Until then, I’ll be waiting for sunflowers.
