Universal Studios

Every time I visit Universal Studios, I feel like I miss an entire section of the park. It seems impossible to actually do two parks in one day. It's hard for me to choose one park because you miss a section of Potter Land and the opportunity to take the Hogwarts train. If you add on front of the line passes, then your tickets become even more expensive than they already are. Wtf.

Last time we were at Universal, we focused most of our time in Islands of Adventure. This year, we did the exact opposite. We spent most of our time in Universal Studios. In a sense, we were exploring what we didn't get to see on our last trip. When we made it to Diagon Alley, we went over to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour to try the soft serve butter beer finally. It was delicious! The butter beer flavor is not overwhelming, which I was worried about. For a cone, there was a lot of ice cream... in fact, too much ice cream for me. Like I said, I have a small stomach and I couldn't finish the whole cone. For the prices, at least you're getting a good amount of ice cream.

After, I waited on the longest line I've ever had to wait on for the Hogwarts Express, which was quite annoying. When we got to Hogsmeade, we went over to Three Broomsticks like usual for frozen butter bear and my rotisserie chicken. Once we finished dinner, the light show on Hogwarts Castle began. Since everyone was outside watching the show, we were able to walk right on the ride. The walk through the castle was longer than the wait. Once we got out, we basically watched the show twice, but at different angles. Afterwards, we bolted for the Hogwarts Express again to get over to Diagon Alley before they closed off the line for Gringotts. The line for Gringotts wasn’t long either since the park was closing. Once we got out, the park was basically empty. There’s something magical about an empty Diagon Alley at night. We watched the dragon breathe fire one last time before we wandered out of the park. We ended up taking some photos in King’s Cross and by the Christmas tree.

My only regrets were that I didn’t get to see Dr. Seuss Land, and that I didn’t get any donuts at Voodoo. My plan was to get donuts after the park closed, but when we got there, there was a long line for donuts! Maybe, I should have sucked it up and waited, but I was too tired by then. I don’t know if the line is always like that at night or if it’s because it was a Saturday. I should of gotten at least one or two donuts before going into the park. Lesson learned.

Next, Epcot...
