The Comeback is Always Stronger than the Setback
I got a call from Luitpold on Monday offering me the job! I was so relieved. Even though I knew I would get an offer, I still had anxiety that whole week waiting for an answer. Once I sent in my acceptance on Tuesday, and signed the appropriate paper work, I started making my rounds at work. Luitpold uses a reference check online, and I needed four references to take a survey. I talked to my manager, director, and executive director... they were all happy for me and relieved too. My director was so excited that she told my executive director before I got a chance to lol! I'm proud of myself, I went on one interview like she said, and got the job. Everything is really falling into place. I got told two weeks ago that I was losing my job, but I already have a new job in place. I've always been a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. There was a position open at the right place, at the right time.
Luitpold was a no brainer. I have the qualifications and the experience at a global manufacturing giant like Estee Lauder. The position at Luitpold was open for a few months because it was hard for them to find qualified individuals who will work out east. Seeing that I lived ten minutes away, I think that assured them that I would have no problem coming to work. I'm the complete opposite... I'm always complaining that all the jobs are out in Melville and the city. It's a rare find to see a cost accounting position out here. I'm excited that I will be in a new industry using the skills I've learned at Estee Lauder. My goal of finding a new job has been checked off finally.
It's crazy how much your life can change in a blink of an eye. One moment I'm working at Estee Lauder, the next I'm working for a new company. I wasn't happy with my position at EL, and needed a change. The company's operational downsizing actually gave me the opportunity I needed. I really benefit from it too. I will get both my severance and bonus from EL while I'm working at the other company. This is extra money that can be used for my car loan, student loans, and future vacations. Disney is still in the works this year and I'm happy about that. Maybe, I can put money away for Paris, London or Italy trip.
My proposed start date is April 23th at Luitpold. Now, I can finish my time off at Estee Lauder happy and not loathe the time that I'm here. I'm really going to miss my co-workers the most. They have been the most supportive throughout my years here and I couldn't have asked for better people to work with. Other than that, I'm ready to peace out.
Two weeks. It only took two weeks for me to resolve the situation. That fierce determination is still inside me...
