Lavender By The Bay
This was my first summer adventure this year. I haven't really had that many adventures this summer now that I think about it, which is sad. It's like I'm just waiting for fall to come. I know people really love summer, but I really hate being hot, sweaty and sunburnt with frizzy hair lol. However, there are a few things I do love about summer... lavender fields, sunflowers, Long Island beaches and farmland.
Chinh and I have been wanting to redo a shoot at Lavender By The Bay. We apparently went at the wrong time last year because the lavender was all gone and we missed the bloom. Plus, we do not exactly love the photographer we used because he embarrassed me when BlackMilk reposted a photo we actually took there.
This year, I finally got to see the lavender bloom. It smelled heavenly. The sea of purple was so pretty. There's something about walking in fields of lavender that make you calm and happy. Coincidentally, I actually got sunburn from this day. LOL. It was overcast, which makes you not realize you are getting burnt. I just didn't think about sunscreen at all. Luckily, it wasn't anything major. We shot some photos with Ron while at the farm. I feel like I was off my game that day, but there were still some pretty photos. I'm surprised Ron was willing to drive all the way out there for photos. I didn't realize just how far out on the North Fork the fields were because I wasn't paying attention the first time around.
More shenanigans with us and Chinh's sister Thy. We needed a millennial for the BTS shoots. LOL. There was also chickens, which Ron was very excited about lol.
We stopped at a little beach on the way back from Lavender. It was so peaceful just to sit by the water and listen to the sound of the waves. I have a love/hate relationship with beaches. I like sitting by the water, but I hate sand and crowds of people. I also don't like swimming in the ocean. I'm terrified about what's in there. It also doesn't help that we do not have crystal clear water.
We also stopped off at a cute farm near by that had a giant strawberry and Popeye on a traitor.
All in all, I enjoyed myself. Just when I think I hate Long Island, I go out east to the farmlands and it makes me think it's not so bad. I can't wait to go to Montauk with the girls. I imagine I'll love it just the same. I've lived on the island my entire life, but I have near journeyed out to Montauk. It's crazy, because while it is still far for us, it is relatively close for us eastern Long Islanders compared to the rest of the people on the island.
I'm thinking of looking up lavender and sunflower farms in Jersey in hopes to go with Miguel. I just have to figure out if there is somewhere relatively close to us, and when the flowers are in bloom. This will make me hate Jersey less if I can find farmland I like.

Somehow, this shoot turned into Chinh and I's engagement shoot. lmao...

The beach was where we had the ceremony...

LOL I like how we've become country girls this year with the shoots and fields. XD
